No posts until Monday
I am leaving for Berlin and will not be back until Monday. Since my laptop broke and my customized MAC needs two weeks for delivery, I will not write until Monday. I leave you with great advertising.

Most Powerful People in Business
Esaaaaa! According to Fortune magazine, Steve Jobs is the most powerful person in business. I am not sure if I agree on that, but as long as this news does the Apple stock good, I am happy. I would call him the most influential business person in the world, because Apple products transform every product category they enter.
But I would personally consider Sergei Brin to be the most powerful person in business. I think we could all live without Apple products, but a world without Google would look a lot different. Not only that all of us (With us I mean everyone reading this post) use Google on a daily basis or at least various times a week. The real power of Google comes from its advertising model. Without Google, we would not have the diversity of internet sites that we have. Millions of sites live off Google AdSense. I cant believe that Fortune puts the Google trio only in 4th place. To me this is a clear proof that a) Old media still does not have the vision that New Media has and b) Old Media has trouble acknowledging the overtaking power of New Media. Fortune, get over it! You missed the train, all of you! Mark my words: Sergei or the Google CEO will lead this list within the next 5 years!

Rammstein Rocks
You probably think I am crazy and believe me: I cant believe I am writing this post. It is probably of particular surprise to you, considering that I made fun of Germany's most successful international band in my last post on them. But yesterday I saw a MTV Special on Rammstein and was intrigued and surprised of what I saw. First of all, I saw the most mindblowing concert acts and pyro-shows that I have ever seen. At times the lead singer transforms into a terminator type of figure with fire rockets and flame throwers on his shoulders and arms. Jimmy Hendrix and Jim Morrison were among the first musicians to experiment with fire on stage and they would not believe their eyes if they saw how Rammstein perfectionized the musical pyro-show. I would never buy or listen to their CD, but their show is ridicolusly crazy, and I cant wait to go and see them live.
On top of that, the band members appeared to be completely different than I thought. On stage they play a role and look like Gothic freaks coming straight out of hell. But during the interview they presented themselves as a bunch of smart, articulate, well read, deep thinking and sensitive shomasters. I have not heard such a good, authentic interview of any rock star since the glory days of Rock, which have long passed.

Unfortunately I could not find a good example of their pyro-acts on Youtube, but here is a video of their concerts anyway. Plus, check out their gallery and you would be surprised how differently they portray themselves with every evolving record.

Indian Laughing Clubs
There is just nothing like India and no people like Indians. The two videos below make me want to jump on the next plane and visit this fasninating country once again. When I was living in Mumbai, I had heard of laughing clubs, but never managed to attend one. The next time I am there (Ritesh's wedding?), I will surely join the laughter. Hahahaha! UUuuuaahhahahahahaha! Jejejeje!
Here an example of a laughing Yogi
You gotta check out the Laughing Club

Poker Poker Poker Poker Poker Poker

I got hooked to playing Poker almost a year ago. When I got back to Munich, I started playing various times a week and also had my take on online poker.I have been practicing hard and read about the game's philosophy and strategy. Lawmakers in Germany acknowledge that Poker is a game of skill and not of chance. This makes for specific legislation that allows bars for example to stage poker tournaments.
I also love watching professional poker, especially High Stakes Poker. At High Stakes Poker, everyone who has a spare 500.000USD can buy himself into a professional table. Players play their own money and winners take home up to 5million USD. The atmosphere at those tables is incredible. It is mental warfare a la Sun Tzu, colored with a good portion of ironic wit and mockery. A great website to watch the best professional poker action is Poker Tube. Wanna see how two of the most agressive players battle a 750.000USD hand? Check the video below...

Wikipedia Donation
Wikipedia lives off donations, entirely. Although it is the 8th most popular site in the world, only 28,688 people have donated so far. I visit Wikipedia at least 20 times per week, it has taught me numerous things and next to my family, studies and travels, it has been the primary source of knowledge and learning for me. Have I donated yet? No! But I thought about it today and promised myself to do so, as soon as I have a regular income again.

Manufacturing Dissent
Always knew Michael Moore was a truth-twisting demagogue, but was surprised how schizophrenic and arrogant he can be. See this movie if you like or dislike Michael Moore and are into revealing dcumentaries. When you have seen Roger&Me for example, his first and for me his best movie, you will be surprised to find out that he had indeed interviewed Roger.

Not to be Missed....
....that is, if you are into the Beatles (don't worry, we are talking about their psychedelic late 60s period). The movie may look cheesy, but hey, people were romantic back then. Critics rave about the new film and even though I would have preferred the original Beatles tunes, I do look forward to watching it. The 60s, psychedelic art, New York, the Beatles - what more could I ask for? A piece by Bobby D. maybe....

The New York Times wrote that "the movie reveals its intention to use the Beatles’ catalog to tell two stories at once, one personal, the other generational." As a great aficionado of the 60s era music, I wonderd, which other musician or band could have succeeded in conveying these two closely tied, but nevertheless different strings of storytelling. I think that next to the Beatles it could have only been Bob Dylan. Dylan, too conveys the motivation, the agression and the creativity of a whole generation, while at the same time revealing the emotions and sensitivity of the individual. Well, I am not a music critic, but those of you who, like me, consider The Beatles and Dylan the best song writers in the history of the human ear, will know what I mean.

I often thought how well music can convey stories, but always disliked the cheesy parts of musicals, although I do dig West Side Story, which leads me to agree with the point the NYT critic made in his final paragraph: "Falling in love with a movie is like falling in love with another person. Imperfections, however glaring, become endearing quirks once you’ve tumbled."

Internet Infarct

According to Spiegel, the Internet may break down within the next two years, if companies do not invest a minimum of USD40billion in infrastructure in the US alone. With video streaming and downloads, ever more bandwidth is demanded. Youtube alone uses about 10% of the world's total internet bandwidth. Incredible! I just ordered myself a Mac Book Pro and opted for extra power, pimping it with 4GB RAM and a 2,6GHz. A mean machine! I just want to be ready for what is lying ahead of us.
