Berlusconi....again

The results of a poll made by United Nations came out. The question was: "Please, tell us honestly what is your opinion about the abundance vs. scarcity of food in the rest of the world." The results were as follows:

The Europeans did not understand what was meant by "scarcity".
The Africans did not understand "abundance."
The Americans asked the meaning of the "rest of the world".
The Chinese, puzzled, asked for an explanation of "opinion".
Meanwhile, in the Italian Parliament, they are still debating the meaning of "honestly".

Sarah Lacey

I had not blogged about the Sarah Lacey controversy at the SXSW conference, because I figured that most of my new techy readers would not have a big interest in the story. To summarize: Sarah Lacey, a BusinessWeek journalist, interviewed Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook founder) at the SXSW conference and while on stage was bashed by a pretty hostile audience that did not like her questions. The audience aggregated its thoughts and agression live via twitter, which made poor Sarah really loose touch with an audience that among themselves was keeping direct contact. All live! Pretty revolutionary if you ask me. Anyway, Sarah was criticized heavily, but even though I agree with most bloggers who would have liked her to crowdsource her questions to Mark and ask what the audienc wanted to hear, I do think that she handled the hostility towards her and the interview pretty damn well. After all, she is a professional journalist first and a blogger second, which may explain her rather traditional interviewing approach.
Why am I writing about this incident now, weeks after it has passed? Because I just saw an interview with her that was being shot yesterday, where she speaks about the disastrous keynote with Mark and I must say that I would consider myself a Lacey fan after seeing that video. She seems bright, eloquent, funny, cute and charming. I wish there were more geeks like that!
Will definately read her book.

Below you will first find her latest interview and second her controversial itv with Mark Zuckerberg.

Apple Stock

It is coming again! 154USD as of today, but still lots of scope to grow if you ask me. Then again, maybe you better not ask me.

Newseum

85fe3d2f6a5ff90d056d5612562f7eb3.jpg European museums may guard more historic treasures than their American counterparts, but Americans build better museums. The Jewish museum in Berlin for example is said to be one of the most intriguing museums in the World, with state of the art design and museum architecture. In my point of you though, the Jewish museum in Washington is way more capturing and impressive in its design and structure.

Yesterday another promising museum has opened in Washington and I guess the museum alone deserves a visit to Washington. After all, it is said to be the most interactive museum in the world. The museum's website offers a nice gimmick, Todays Front Pages, a visual representation of 626 newspaper front pages from 60 different countries, which are updated every day.

Well well.....

Yes I know. I have not kept my promise. I have hardly blogged over the last weeks, have neglected my readers and according to my stats have lost many in the process. One friend wrote me a SMS to announce his withdrawing from my blog. Could you please write a letter next time! Sms is not the right medium to use for something thaaaat official. ;-)

Anyway, this blog has become one lame duck this year. I guess one reason is that I simply do not have the amount of free time that I used to have in my last job. Another reason could be that I am looking forward to my own site to be finished and then give it a go with a new concept. But that is probably rather an excuse. Even so, my friend Ali told me today via facebook that he will be coming to Berlin to visit me and we will finish the blog in style then. Beginning of May!

A third reason for my lack of writing may stem from me having read so much about the death of the blog lately. A lot of famous bloggers are going into twitter- or pownce-style microblogging and I am thinking whether I should do the same. Writing a blog post every day takes time and time really became of the essence when I started working in Berlin. But even though twitter and pownce allow you to post links, videos and photos with the blink of an eye, they do not allow you to write long blog posts. And even though I have hardly written long posts this year, I do not want to entirely give up writing long posts, such as the Obama post I did last year, for example.

So, my plan for this blog is the following: Until I have my own site ready (4 more weeks), I will continue to post short entries to this blog, paired with lots of links and vids of interesting stuff that I come across. I do not have the time to wander around the infinite plains of the web that are filled with hidden treasures like I used to, but my netvibes universe lets me skim-read 30-40 blogs and sites within minutes, which is something I do every day. So I will start to share one interesting piece pieve everyday. So basically, you will get less writing and more content from others.

Once I have my own domain, you shall get more content from me, mostly in the form of videos.

And I will leave Obama-style blog posts to rainy sundays that give me the time to endulge myself in writing.
