Secure Fence Act 2006
The secure fence act has been signed, although the fence along the U.S.-Mexican border will not cover the whole border, but leave a gap of up to 1300 miles. Although I am a strong advocate of our lovely intra-borderless European Union, I think Mexico’s reaction to the announcement by the U.S. government has rather been pathetic. Don’t get me wrong, I love Mexico and its people, have lived there myself for a while and pride myself to have some Mexican blood. I also happen to be the biggest Latin America fan that I know. But how can their government honestly protest the secure fence act? How can airport controls in the U.S. have any comforting impact on America’s security with such an unprotected open border? The U.S. population has reached 300 million people a couple of weeks, partly because of an open influx of Mexican citizens. There are now more Hispanics than Afro-Americans in the country. Let me tell you, I think this is a lovely development. I enjoy the Hispanic flair that sweeps across America’s cities. But would it be so painful to have these immigrants pass through customs? Here a little video: Definitely do not like everything this guy says, quite some arrongance and his last statement on the issue has no empirical evidence, but the beginning has some interesting facts on Mexican immigration laws. Sorry for the ads and the following report on E.coli, cant detach these. Watch the E.coli report only if you are not yet tired of fear and panic spreading by American media. Smells like Fox news to me.
The building of the fence won’t slow down the inflow of Hispanic immigrants and it should not. Hispanic immigrants positively contribute to the social and economic developments of the U.S. A fence may simply make the country safer. Anyway, according to the following billboard, Mexico never lost California in the Mexican-American war. This is an actual billboard, seen in Los Angeles. Viva Mexico!
